Importance Of After Care
Do you or a loved one have an upcoming treatment appointment that I recommended during your last visit? Or did I maybe recommend a treatment, but you have postponed scheduling your appointment? If so, this is your gentle reminder to schedule your appointment today. I would hate for you to experience a dental emergency. Whether you have a treatment appointment scheduled relatively soon or you are expecting to need treatment in the near future, I want to share the importance of following our post-treatment care instructions. Importance of Following After-Care Instructions
I treat a number of patients daily with a variety of different procedures. Following the completion of treatment, each patient will receive after-treatment instructions. Every patient will feel differently and have a different recovery time following treatment. No matter how you are feeling, it is important to follow my directions to ensure proper recovery. Failure to follow my directions can result in unnecessary discomfort, complications, as well as the need to repeat the procedure, leading to added expenses.
Precautions When Numb
Many of the treatments performed in my office require the use of a numbing agent. Your mouth will remain numb for some time following your treatment. It is extremely important to avoid eating and drinking until you can feel your mouth and tongue properly. Eating and drinking while numb can lead to you accidentally biting your cheek, tongue, or lip. Biting any of these areas in your mouth can lead to trauma and canker sores. We may recommend this tip, but if not, depending on your comfort level, you may want to chew on the opposite side of your mouth for the remainder of the day.
